On the last weekend in April, the Warren County Junior Firefighters host its annual Warren County Junior Firefighter Competition in Warrenton, North Carolina.
Started in 2011 with just eight mostly local junior firefighter teams, the Competition has continually grown to include teams from across North Carolina as well as teams from as far away as Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Warren County Junior Firefighter Competition is now the largest competition of its kind in North Carolina! The Competition attracts hundreds of junior firefighters, plus their parents, advisors, firefighters, supporters, and spectators.
The Competition consists of five field events and three knowledge-based events (written testing, verbal testing, and knot tying).
At the Saturday Competition, there are vendors, food trucks, exhibitors, and displays of emergency vehicles. The appearance of Smokey Bear, the Chick-Fil-A Fire Chief Cow, and the Duke Life Flight helicopter are always crowd-pleasers.
On Friday evening, Fire Explorer Post 672 hosts a social and complimentary dinner for all registered guests. The social is a casual get-together for youths, advisors, and parents to meet, make new friends, and network. After dinner, we have dancing, a live D.J., games, and fun!
